Plan a porch as a complete addition

Covered, screened or enclosed living space
RGR builds covered porches, screened porches and fully enclosed porches. A covered porch provides overhead shelter; screens add an insect barrier while keeping an outdoor feel. An enclosed porch provides a different level of shelter and can be planned with heating and air conditioning. Tell us whether you want an outdoor sitting area or a room designed for more comfortable use throughout the year.
Adding a roof to an existing deck
An existing deck cannot be assumed suitable for a porch roof. Supports, framing and connections need review for the proposed construction, with additional plans or engineering where required. Roof shape also affects the tie-in to the house and how water moves away from the new and existing roofs.
Electrical, heating and air conditioning
Door swings, screen openings, steps and furniture placement affect everyday circulation. Lighting, ceiling fans and outlets can also be included in RGR’s porch work.
For a fully enclosed porch, we can include heating and air conditioning. Plan those features before construction so the enclosure, equipment and electrical needs can be considered together. Your proposal identifies the fixtures, equipment and trade work included.

Can an existing deck become a covered porch?
Possibly, but the existing supports and framing must be evaluated for the proposed roof and enclosure. Do not assume an existing deck can carry the added construction.

How will the porch roof connect to my home?

Will a screened porch keep all rain out?
Screens are not a weather-tight wall system. Wind-driven rain can enter an outdoor screened space. Roof design, exposure and exterior materials should be considered with that expectation.
Can electrical work and heating or air conditioning be included?
Yes. RGR can include electrical work for lighting, ceiling fans and outlets. For a fully enclosed porch, heating and air conditioning can also be included.
